The Secret Life of a Pre-Set Ritual
Before every set, I disappear. Not from the venue — from the noise.
People think the magic happens on stage. But for me, it starts in silence.
Thirty minutes before I play, I shut down. No small talk, no phones. I sit alone with a cup of green tea, and I listen — not to music, but to my own heartbeat.
I do breathwork. I visualize the opening track as light flooding into a room. I hold my USB in my hands and imagine it glowing. Sounds cheesy? Maybe. But it grounds me.
Why It Matters
Mental clarity. A clear mind makes better musical decisions.
Emotional energy. The crowd feels you. If you're scattered, they’re scattered.
Respect. I treat every set like a ceremony. That starts with reverence.
I believe the audience doesn’t just hear the music — they hear your state of mind. And I want mine to be present, open, fluid.
My Ritual Checklist
Green tea (Jasmine if I can find it)
5-minute breath pattern (inhale 4, hold 7, exhale 8)
One memory that grounds me
Touch the USB — not just to check files, but to connect
